I think all of us could learn to lighten up a bit about these kind of things. But I must argue that it is wrong to say we are a christian nation, founded on christian principles. While some 70-80% of our nation say they believe in God and/or attend church, that hardly qualifies them as followers of Christ. In fact, for them, that is a pretty dangerous category to be in - simply believing in a god and being a good person. It doesn't mean they have been saved by Jesus Christ. And this nation was founded on deist principles, not christian ones. These are incredibly important truths that, when lost, can do a lot of damage individually and as a nation. I groan as I leave this comment because, again, I do appreciate and somewhat agree with the basic idea of the statement.
